Nutrition is very important as your body performs significant exertion, along an entire day, for several consecutive days, and even at high altitude. This requires the right energy at the right time.
Tastes are strictly personal. However, it should be remembered that carbohydrates are the ideal fuel for the activity you will be doing, and it is not appropriate to take foods high in fat or with too much protein. Anything is fine in the mountains to satisfy the palate, but bread, rice, potatoes, cookies, corn, etc., are the ideal solution. This way your body will have energy, in the form of sugars, for the time needed for the long hours of walking.
On our trips you will always have everything you need. We will provide you with hearty breakfasts and lunches and dinners that are always freshly cooked. You will find Himalayan and often international cuisine.
There are energy bars on the market that contain everything you need however they are not as satisfying.
Prolonged walking efforts cause increased sweating and respiratory acts resulting in considerable loss of water and mineral salts that need to be replenished as soon as possible. It is therefore necessary to drink plenty of water frequently with the possible addition of some saline replenisher. In winter it is useful to have a thermos with hot drink with you.
The guide will tell you where you will find water. On most routes you will always be able to stock up on water and food if you need it.
